Happy Wednesday my AMAZING friends. Something I had to learn as a kid, as I had some rather bad examples and not many good ones to show me a better way, was that in any relationship, the best feeling in the world is to find someone that you love to be with because you love doing/giving things/time for them. It's equal to the love a parent has for their kids. The joy we get by making their day, seeing their beautiful smiles, listening to their laughter, knowing they need us to dry their tears etc. That feeling is the best feeling in any relationship. Yet so many of us do not approach relationships with this in mind. Most of think about what we will gain from it, what the person (romantic or not) will be able to offer us or how they will better our lives. Granted some of us are jaded from being used by others, who we neglect to admit, are just like us. Seeking relationships for personal benefit or a "mutual" beneficial relationship. When was the last time you sincerely liked, maybe even loved, someone enough that you just wanted to be around them because it was them. You never once thought twice about the things you said or do for them as you love to see them happy and be there when they need you? Now I am not talking about throwing yourself down as a doormat for someone to use and abuse you. Sometimes it is hard to see the line I know. I was there. For years I couldn't see what so many around me thought was obvious. But a simple and great rule is this. If you truly love someone (platonic or romantic), you will never feel bad after doing things for them or giving to them. And they will never make you feel obligated to give more or feel bad for not giving enough. They will simply be grateful for you. In other words, if it feels bad, it's probably bad. But don't be afraid to love other humans in such a way that it makes your heart soar. Know when to take time for yourself, listen to the voice inside when something feels wrong, but never let your fears or self made doubt stop you from freely giving without expectation. You may make a friend of a lifetime or find that love you never knew existed. #gooddaytobealive #choosegoodthoughts #betterfuture
