In Southeast Asia, Popiah (薄饼) as we called it in Malaysia and Singapore is part of our Chinese cuisine. Elsewhere, they are known by different names like 润饼 in Taiwan. Popiah "skin" (薄饼皮), a soft, thin paper-like crepe or pancake made from wheat flour is used to wrap up the various ingredients. A sweet bean sauce is spread on the crepe followed by stewed turnip or jicama (known locally as bangkuang) & carrot, bean sprouts, shredded omelette and chopped peanuts.
