In The Dark | chosen-to-lead
The news of the events at the Alienage in Denerim traveled to the Dalish quickly. Which was rather unusual for them. Maynara figured it was a way for the humans to try to scare them, show them what the Shems were capable of. Her clan elders spent hours discussing what actions they would take, and after argument after argument it had been decided that the Dalish would keep to themselves. It was assumed that turning a blind eye would be easier than starting something with the Kendells of Denerim.
Nightfall fell quickly on their camp and Maynara found herself not being able to react the same way that her Keeper had. Turning a blind eye to the noble Shem was not what she had in mind. As her clansmen turned in for the night, Maynara made sure to not disturb anyone as she tip toed through the camp and onto the road to Denerim.
Her speed was fast as she made her way down the dirt road. Maynara wanted to make sure that she made it to Denerim before the morning light hit the sky. As she approached the walls, she slowed down and made sure to step lightly as to not bring any attention to herself. It would be easy for Maynara to get in. Two guards were left alone to keep watch outside. She reached into her side pocket and pulled out a bomb that she had stolen from her Keeper. The concoction was a special blend of herbs and Elvhen magic that would cause the two guards to pass out and wake up not knowing what had happened to them. With full force, Maynara tossed the bomb towards them and it exploded immediately. With a smirk, she snuck past the sleeping guards up the walls of the noble's home.
Maynara managed to enter through a window. The interior of the home was dark, showing no sign of anyone being awake yet but the sun lingered just below the city walls and she knew that it meant she would have to react quickly. The entire trip to Denerim, Maynara debated on how she would make the Shem suffer. Would it be a poison in his breakfast or would she torture him, watch him suffer. Without taking an extra moment to think, Maynara made her way down the hallway, making sure to not make any noise.
A loud snoring sound was the only thing that lead Maynara straight towards Vaughan's room. A mischievous smirk appeared on her face as she reached for the door knob, turning it slowly. The noble laid flat on his back, sprawled across his bed. Maynara shook her head and closed the door behind her before tip toeing over to the side of his bed. Her eyes were cold, she would show no mercy to the man who mistreated elves.
Maynara reached to the right side of her belt, grabbing for the small dagger that was latched to it. The metal was cold against the palm of her hand. She wound her fingers tightly against the hilt of the dagger. Maynara leaned over the noble's bed and began to press her blade against the man's throat.
The silence was broken by the turn of the door knob. Maynara stared over at the knob, still holding the blade against Vaughan's throat. The door opened and allowed a bright light to shine directly on the noble's face. Vaughan woke up with a startle and let out a loud yell calling to the guards.
Maynara had no time to react before a group of the noble's men overtook her. "Take this one directly to the queen." He hissed as he cupped his hand over his neck.
