Arriving after an afternoon set, the group tentatively approached Paul, Ringo et al and asked if they were still interested in listening to them.

“They got some mics on the stage for us — we were terrified, we had never sung on stage or with mics before,” Eddie added.

“And they were gobsmacked by us.

“They made us go through our whole repertoire, which was all of about four songs, and then said we had to sing with them that night.”

A record deal followed, but although the fledgling band, The Chants, became firm fixtures on the Liverpool music circuit, they struggled to achieve any mainstream success.

The production credits of Daft Punk are not the only signs of their mastery, one must also check their side projects to see their incredible grasp of electronic music. Unfortunately, most of them did not release that much, Daft Punk remains a full-time job for all the members of the group, but what they did was great. Together, Bangalter's project with DJ Falcon who we already met as a musician on Random Access Memories, made a couple of singles, though the most known one is this fascinatingly repetitive house composition many sampled. Unsurprisingly, you can notice there are several tricks Bangalter used later on with Guy-Manuel, i.e. the song could be seen as something of a demo version for Human After All thanks to the minimalism of the piece.
