“You can do it, I know you can.” “Can I? I mean, I’ll loose my son… how can I take care off the others?” “The same way you always have. By being there, by comforting them, letting them comfort you. And you have another grandchild to care for.” “True.”
The thought actually made him smile, he knew he would be needed, he knew they would all need him, and he would need them. It was still just such an odd thought, he had always worried about losing one of his twins, just not this twin.
“It all started with that attack didn’t it?” “Yes.” “If he hadn’t chosen it.. “ “But he did.” “Yes..”
Hayle wondered if he would choose it again, he kept saying he would, even if it had been a rough pregnancy, so it was one of the reasons Hayle felt finer with all of it than he had expected to feel, or perhaps it was his husbands presence, one of the perks of a reaper was to instill a certain calm. This he knew from their many talks over the years of how it was to do the work, and he had to admit he had a huge respect for just that.
“And you know, Vy wants more stars.” “He does.”
Chris chuckled, it was one of the things he remembered from before he left, how Vy wanted more little ones, and he couldn’t see Hayden disagreeing all that much. Although with the disconnect of the hears, he could imagine it being an added strain on them, even with the blessing from Vy’s twin.
“It will be okay.” “Will it?” “In it’s own way, yes.” “I’ll trust you on that then.”
He took hold of his husband's arm as they kept walking. All he wanted was to change things, he knew his husband wanted the same, but he also knew this time they couldn’t. Death himself would be there to make sure this time.
“I love you dragonboy.” “I love you too, silly reaper.”
He chuckled as they went back inside the house, Chris finding a way to keep his own and his husband's head off things for the night.
