losing my mind (/neg) about that lazarus episode
bc like. it’s one thing to have been planning the chris/axel romance from the start
but i really just didn’t read their relationship as romantic??? like at the start they had a little chemistry but that was mostly like. “ik how straight people write romance”. the show went on and it seemed to get a lot more platonic
and then we had fucking inga (/pos), chris is a russian lesbian spy, and she has such intense lasting feelings about her ex-girlfriend/-handler that she’d let inga kill her gun to her head— so clearly chris is not over this woman
inga DIES, so i guess we’re killing our goddamn gays but chris is still a badass so it’s fine it’s fine it’s f
and then she. kisses axel.
and the thing is— i get the “last day of the world, no regrets” thing. i really do get it. but then you see axel’s expression as she leaves
and it’s fucking raw.
i feel like it cheapens the intensity of chris’ relationship with inga for her to be kissing axel as anything less than a half impulse desire thing. or as a rebound.
but i also think it is such a massive cheapening of her very deep and very new relationship with axel that she’s suddenly kissing him?? on a half baked whim??? this guy who hasn’t had aclose relationship since he was a kid, who spilled his entire tragic backstory to her, character with his suitcase packed who finally found a place he’d like to stay—
and it just seems cruel.
kill me with knives if i am being that one person who hates women getting in the way of male relationships……like please trust me i dont think im being misogynistic with this but tell me if i am
BUT. AUGH. idec about axel being gay i just wanted a strong platonic friendship between a man and a woman that didn’t uave to be romantic, i was so damn excited, chris could be a female character NOT tied to a man as this sort of “ultimate” narrative purpose (which is what the kiss felt like to me)— a woman who was still allowed to love and be vulnerable (can we talk about the fact that she is either a lesbian or bisexual) AND THEN GOODBYE????
idk. maybe i’ll get over this in a couple days
Hello friends!
I just finished up a new anime and needed something a bit happier than the angsty Whumptober I've been doing, so here's a happy fic for the LAZARUS anime
If you haven't seen it, go watch it. It's by the creator of Cowboy Bebop and it's really good
Enjoy!

Shout-out Chris, the best character so far in Lazarus. <3 I really hope you make it 'cus you're as reckless as Axel.
ep10 reactions
they look like they adopted him
no fuck you
i love that they all trust each other as more secrets about their past come to light and theyre really feeling like a fucked up family but a family nonetheless. the scene where axel consoles leland whos crying but doesnt make fun of him will stay in my heart
also im SO glad they didnt use the miscommunication trope more bc it wouldve just been annoying
nice and chill episode, shit is going down next week and i hope axel knows how to drive well from his years in prison(lol), it would be really funny if he tries to flirt but I doubt it'll happen. also wasn't the airport incident they were talking about the one chris got in? or am i stupid
The Lazarus fandom has made me realize we’ve come full circle. We’ve gotten to the point where people point at het ships and say, “wow, they’re such good friends!” When there’s obvious chemistry. And then look at homo ships and go, “awwww they totally love each other, obviously!” Even though the only line event hinting at such a thing is clearly a joke that was immediately shot down.
Let Axel and Chris have good chemistry but be too similar to work out. Let them both be great friends who flirt casually and occasionally act on it. Chris having a past committed relationship with a woman who died doesn’t mean she’s not bi! I thought the whole episode about that had some major relationship vibes and implications about them, and Inga was giving Chris her blessing to move on with Axel. It was vague and didn’t have the drama we usually see in fictional romance but it was meaningful, both for platonic friendship and a potential romance. The relationship between these two is actually one of the most well developed so far
