Trail Quake 2013!
This weekend, on Saturday June 15th, fellow Herokai Chris Stolt, Glenn Gillen and I ran in the Trail Quake race. I ran the 5K, while Chris and Glenn both ran the 10K. I also ran the 5K with Chris' girlfriend, Sharon, and Glenn's wife, Emma. Our last friend was Cynthia, who ran the 10K with Chris and Glenn.
Now this isn't your everyday race. For my 5K, the first half of the race is a hike uphill where there is a single track and very small sections of paved trail. The 10K goes even higher up to the top of Sanborn Park. It's a rough way to start my venture into races, but it was a complete joy and rush!
Chris and Glenn both did an amazing job! Chris came in 54th and Glenn came in 22nd out of 147 racers for the 10K. In their age group, and I will not give away how old they are, Chris came in 8th and Glenn came in 4th out of 14. They were amazeballs!
For me, I did alright! I came in 44th out of 166 runners, and in my age group, I came in 1st out of 8.
This was super exhilarating and I hope that for the next race, we can get more Herokai in the mix!
