Band Member Profile - Chris
Hi Everybody,
Last but not least, I’m the rough around the edges northerner (with Luke of course) and the drummer of the band. I occasionally go by the name Chris, but you guys can call me whatever the hell you like. I have dabbled in many instruments in my time (including vocals but you really don’t want to hear me sing any time soon) but settled on the drums because who doesn’t need more rhythm in their lives?
I started drumming when I was 9 and have never looked back since. Having a lot of different musical influences I have literally been through every stereotype you can think of.
What first got me interested was seeing a guy play for a cover band, and he later became my teacher (Paul Allen). I eventually went looking for more formal lessons in a slightly seedy basement in my local music store, Electro Music, in South Yorkshire with my teacher (Dean Cousins) who had huge prog rock influences as he sowed the seeds of rock music that led me to where I am today. I then went the complete opposite direction and became primarily a jazz drummer with my 3rd and final teacher (Ian West). Suffice to say I have had my fair share of influences and experiences in my short life!
As you will have already seen I met Oli in first year at Imperial College when we were living in the same halls, and having never liked, listened to, or even played Metal in my life I was reluctant to adapt but when I eventually embraced the Metal I found a deep rooted love and can’t believe what I was missing out on all those Years. Anything with a heavy ass bass line and spine chilling melodies have me hooked immediately.
In terms of bands, my influences are always changing and I would say I listen to pretty much anything so it would be hard to name any particular bands. When it comes to idols, I have huge love and respect for drummers like John Blackwell, Craig Blundell and Dave Weckl as all Drummer should.
Anyways, that’s me. Peace and Love!!
