Scene 1:

I like this scene because I remember seeing this even on tv and I remember how big of a deal it was. I’m not a huge tennis fan and even I paid attention to this.

Scene 2:

I like this scene because it has YBN cordae and Kobe Bryant in it. Naomi Osaka dates the rapper and I am a fan of his. It was also cool to see the more human moments with celebrities. She was getting a massage and watching her opponent and it was interesting seeing some behind the scenes preparation.

  Scene 3:

I like this scene a lot because life is filled with ups and downs. Everyone will fall down and have to get back up again. She was on top of the world and pressure got to her.

Scene 1:

I like this scene because it made me think about all that I took for granted. Nas knew that he had nicer things growing up compared to his friends, and he realized at a young age that he had advantages that his friends didn’t. Makes me think about all that I had growing up that my friends didn't have.

Scene 2:

I chose this scene because I went to a low income public school for high school and my parents also taught at low income schools. Growing up I saw a ton of my classmates flunk out or continually fail classes simply because they didn’t care. I never understood how this happened, so this scene put it into perspective.

Scene 3:

I like this scene because it showed Nas’ hard work pay off. He earned a large sum of money for the first time in his life so it paid off for him to drop out. And he got to share his success with his brother which was really cool to see.

scene 1:

I chose this scene because I liked that it was one long continuous take, You do not see that often, and when it’s executed well, it is very entertaining. This scene was also cut with interesting music and visuals. I also liked the flashes of the camera that bounce off the black paint throughout the shot.

scene 2:

I chose this scene because I enjoyed the shift in time. Out of nowhere the doc shifted from modern day to the 1960s with clips and audio being played from a 1970s doc. it was cool to see him as a younger man, and in this shot in particular he is doing the same type of painting that he did in the opening scene.

scene 3:

This was a cool scene because until now, the only time we saw the son was when he came over for dinner already drunk and then he sucks down more wine after his mom had already told him to stop. It was not a good first impression, but later on we see how he ended up the way that he is. This scene was interesting because it shows a deeper side to the sad alcoholic that we saw and that the man has talent.
