Filmden çok şey bekliyorsunuz! Neden? Çünkü filmde 3 tane Oscar Ödüllü oyuncu var! Denzel Washington (eski dedektif),  Rami Malek (yeni dedektif), Jared Leto (seri katil zanlısı) Bu adamlar varsa bir şeyler olacaktır diye izliyorsunuz sadece Ama filmde aslında ne anlatılmak istendiğini anlamıyorsunuz; - eskilerden öğrenilecek çok şey vardır mı, - işini ve özel hayatını bir birinden ayrı tut mu, - gecesini gündüzüne katarak, dinlenmeden işini yapmaya çalışan eninde sonunda hata yapar mı, - şeytan ince ayrıntılarda saklıdır mı, - ? Film işte soru sorup da doğru cevabı veremeyen öğretmenin hali gibi. Bir polisiye gerilim yaratılmaya çalışılmış ama kanıtlar, olaylar arası bağlantı çok basit kalmış.  Oyuncular bile sanki kafalarına silah dayamışlarda oynamışlar, İş bulamamışlarda kendilerinin önüne konulan bu ilk senaryoya atlamışlar gibi.
