"As I prep for final departure, my car, my equipment, nutrition, hydration, planned, prepped and packed and left for JHB, early this morning already. All GPS, trackers, PLB's, strobe's, Heart rate, GPS, Suunto's, night vision, glowsticks, night lights, VHF's, prepped, checked & backup's re-checked. Support boats and most of the team, already up in Mozambique ready to go!
Time to look back at the last year and reflect on all the time, effort, training, planning, preparation, money & sacrifice thats gone into the last two attempts and so much support from so many, to get to this point and now ready for the green light for the 3rd attempt of the 24hr Open Ocean WorldRecord...Thanks for all involved to help me get there.. When in life, at first you don't succeed, get up and try, try and try again..
Over the last year, more than ever, i have learned and been reminded numerous times, that in order to succeed and triumph in the face of great adversity and overcome great odds, resilience, self belief perseverance and dogged determination is the key, without exception. Thank you to all who have helped, donated and supported me along this journey.
I'm ready for Round.3, the final round and i come in, wiser, stronger & more experienced, toughened & hardened by the wild elements of the Cape of Storms! All updates to follow on from tomorrow on."
