“The Greek government is failing to achieve what promised with growth rates shrinking, no jobs created, no investment attracted, and with our foreign policy becoming a mess, they are trying to divert public opinion to an agenda that fits their conservative voters’ worldview. Evictions of squats, racist rhetoric against refugees, more and more “law and order” in a country where there’s no actual “criminality,” racist driven crime or terrorism. This is why Kyriakos Mitsotakis, together with Citizen Protection Minister Chrisochoides (who disbanded the terrorist organization 17N in 2002), organized the event at the War Museum in Athens to talk about his new agenda. This is why he emphasized how the Greek police are being upgraded by means of both new staff and officers and resources. “Three months from now, the country will have a National Strategy Against Terrorism and Violent Extremism,” he said. He described the strategy as “an institutional yet strategic text that fills a policy gap which has for years cast a shadow on Greece’s image in the way it is seen by international organizations.””
