butterflies live for a week

do not plant kisses on my forehead

if you do not wish to water the garden

grows on the inside of my brain.

the seeds sprout at once, and grow

quickly quickly quickly blossom,

become flowers.

their colours attract butterflies,

beautiful butterflies that dance

on the sidewinds of my train of thought,

carefree, fluttering.

they know not of their fate.

the garden grows bigger and more beautiful with every kiss.

without water, without tending,

i feel the weeds creeping in, at the corners of my mind

and the flowers, parched, are losing their radiance.

butterflies live only for a week.

a fleeting existence.

the butterflies inside me are dying off.

when they die, they return to the soil of my brain.

i am glad for each that lived.

they come only for the flowers, without them

my brain is still, silent, dead.

without them, to me you too

are still, silent, and dead.

my main lusitania project right now is my big ahh alphabetical spreadsheet of every passenger, crew member, and stowaway on the ship and then there’s my other spreadsheet that i haven’t started yet but it’s gonna be a minute by minute timeline of the sink.
