Hey friends, here is another little Art News Update! I am participating in a couple of shows in SF this spring and summer, including one that opens this Saturday, May 21.

“Falling ‘Deep Below Heaven’” at The Midway Gallery

When: May 21 through June 30. 

I have the distinct pleasure of activating The Midway Gallery’s “Gods and Monsters” exhibition space. I will be showing my three life-sized portraits of a falling figure, and am opening alongside artist Inyoung Seoung’s installation, entitled He•li•o•trop•ic, in the main gallery at The Midway.

Fun fact: I’m part of The Midway’s inaugural resident artists program. I am looking forward to creating more art there this year!

“Lord of the Thrones”, a group show at Spoke Art Gallery

When: June 2 through June 25

This might be the best, geekiest Spoke show yet! Come see “Game of Thrones” and “Lord of the Rings” inspired artwork by dozens of artists.

Opening reception is Thursday, June 2 at 6pm.

“Not A Lemon” a group show at the Scott Ellsworth Gallery in Alite Outpost

When: July 7 through July 31

Alicia Dornadic is curating a show of Bay Area artists around this quirky theme. This will be my first time showing in this space, and I’m looking forward to it.

Opening reception is Thursday, July 7 from 6-9pm.

Hi friends, 

It’s been quite a while since I posted an art update. Here’s a brief glimpse of 2015! 

In March and April 2015, I showed my life size watercolor portrait series “Falling ‘Deep Below Heaven’” as part of Arc Gallery’s Spotlight:Figure show. Friend and writer Mia Sullivan wrote a great article about the series that you can read Here. Detail shots of the paintings are shown here!

Spoke Art shows: 

I had great fun participating in Spoke’s annual Wes Anderson-themed art show, which took place at Joseph Gross Gallery in NYC this year! Click the link to check out my remaining pieces for sale, along with lots of stellar work. I also have a couple pieces in an upcoming Wes Anderson B Dads book, by Abram’s Publishing, that you can pre-order Here. 

Amelie: Spoke also did an Amelie-inspired show. You can see all the pieces Here, including one of mine that’s still up for grabs. 

Bedford Gallery award: To my surprise and delight, my life-size painting “Orchid (or, Roberto)”, from the “NYC Series”, won one of the best in show awards at “Botanica: all Things Plant Life”, a juried exhibition at Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek. Here’s an article about the show, in which I got to say a thing or two!

Independent film poster: I really enjoyed creating the poster artwork for MarkOlesko and Michael Manziello’s beautiful, unscripted film “Bird in Hand”, set mostly in San Francisco and following a road trip to lush Louisiana. Rent or buy the film Here.

My miniature matchbox paintings, “Burning” and “Cooling”, were part of the#StrikeAwayShow, a collection of over 450 pieces of art created with and on matchbooks and matchboxes. This was such a blast to participate in--there were so many incredibly creative pieces.

Fayes Video Shows:

I had a solo show of “City Dogs”, a collection of art inspired by dogs and their owners. I also participated in a group show for which I created a “Faye’s Heroines” series, a collection of portraits of leading ladies in some of their most popular movie rentals. Here are of a couple of my favorites, entitled “I need a baby for this father”, depicting Cate Blanchett as Jane in “The Life Aquatic” (can you tell I have a thing for Wes Anderson?), and  “Oh my darling, Clementine, you were lost and gone forever” depicting Kate Winslet as Clementine in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
