Christmas Decorating - DIY Christmas Bulb Jar

Welcome back, once again to Project Sydney's 25 Days of Christmas! Sorry about taking a couple days off, but, that's how life goes.. you get a little busy. To check out the first few days of my 25 Days of Christmas, click here! 

Luckily, I've officially finished my Christmas shopping! Yay! Unluckily, I have officially 43 dollars I can spend in my checking account until I get paid over Christmas break. Double Yay for being a college student! (Yes it's true, you really are broke.) 

Also, this week and half of next is going to be very busy for me studying for my finals, so if I don't get a post up every day I apologize! I should be able to get a few up, because after today I am done with class for the semester! Third yay of the post! 

Anyway, today I am going to share with you another simple (and cheap!) DIY decoration. My mom got something similar to this a couple years ago from one of her coworkers (I think?) and when I was in Walmart the other day I saw these jars...and well... I just got an idea. It clicked. :P So here it is! 

This project is great for decorating an end table, counter top, bookshelf, fireplace mantel, or wherever else you can think to put it! And it only costs around 10 dollars for all of the supplies: if you have some of it, even less! Enjoy! 

Christmas Decorating - DIY Christmas Bulb Jar

What you need: 

Christmas jar or large mason jar (can find the Christmas jars at walmart for like $3)

Pretty Christmas ribbon (try to get a thicker ribbon)

Small Christmas tree bulbs (for my size jar, I used one package that had 25 in it)

Strand of 20 Christmas lights (I recommend using the white lights)

What to do: 

Open your jar and layer the bottom with some of the lights

Pour some of your bulbs in, and adjust the lights and the bulbs so that you see more bulb-age than light-age

Shove some more lights in, and then add the rest of your bulbs and then rearrange again until it looks how you want it on the inside (It doesn't need to look perfect, as when you have it lit up it is less noticeable anyways)

When you are finished, shut the lid and admire your work for a second

Plug the lights in and make sure that everything is up to par so far

Then (after unplugging, of course) wrap your ribbon around the top of the jar, and make sure you have a few inches on each side before cutting it to the length you want. 

Tie it in a tight knot

Then, you can either tie a bow, or twirl your ribbon and make it look cute however you want! 

To do mine, I twirled mine around a pencil and then pulled the loops out and arranged them until I thought they looked cute

Then, plug it in and enjoy it with the rest of your decorations!
