Auckland is a big city, driving through it felt alien to us as no other place we've seen in New Zealand is this concrete. It was however nice to see it. Our Airbnb home is north of Auckland and a cute little flat near the sea. On arrival our host gave us a small Christmas tree and baked us fresh cookies, another great example of Kiwi hospitality. After Christmasfiying the house we all started to feel excited about Santa's arrival in 2 day. Christmas Eve in New Zealand has been totally different to our usual uk rush, shop, last minute everything. We decided to go into Auckland. Paris has the Eiffel Tower, New York has the Empire State and Auckland has the Sky tower. After getting the ferry across from devonport to the city we headed straight to the colossal tower. The kids were super excited to go up it and the glass bottomed lift was a hit with Lincoln. Up at the top not only where the views incredible but there was also a Santa and Santa's workshop where the kids made Christmas decorations. The kids basked in some real Christmas activities and a festive feel. Back with our feet on the ground we got lunch and walked around the very quiet city. Back at our Christmas house we prepped for Santa, putting oats and carrots outside to the reindeer and cookies and hot cocoa for Santa. The kids opened their Christmas Eve pjs and we read a story before an early night. Our first summer Christmas is a few hours away the countdown begins.
