I proprietari di gatti sono costretti a rendersi conto che se forniscono cibo, acqua, riparo e affetto ai loro gatti, questi traggono la conclusione di essere delle divinità.
Christopher Hitchens
Nazi Germany was over 90% Christian, yet "Hitler was an atheist" - so atheism is to blame for the Holocaust? It's this holier-than-thou persistent defense of dogma that gives us these horrors.
“Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.” ― Christopher Hitchens
"I suppose that one reason I have always detested religion is its sly tendency to insinuate the idea that the universe is designed with 'you' in mind or, even worse, that there is a divine plan into which one fits whether one knows it or not. This kind of modesty is too arrogant for me." – Christopher Hitchens
Be suspicious of all those who employ the term 'we' or 'us' without your permission. This is a form of surreptitious conscription... Always ask who this 'we' is; as often as not it's an attempt to smuggle tribalism through customs.
Christopher Hitchens
One of my main issues with the way people perceive what we call reality was that they still fell into the traps of either/or. This either/or dichotomy means that somebody can call something different. Which in turn means there’s a minority that can be attacked and used as a scapegoat to distract the rest from the fact that they’re oppressed. What we should be saying is: This is the bio-body I happened to be born in, but I am not this body; I am this consciousness that resides in this body. The body is not me. That said, we can use the body as propaganda and as a form of leverage within society to confuse those who disagree. These days there’s an ongoing discussion on gender, which is important, but the real problem is that it shouldn’t matter at all. “Male or female” shouldn’t even be considered for a second: they’re irrelevant, biological constructions that should have been swept away hundreds of years ago.
