In light of Christopher Pyne resigning from Australian politics, let’s all remember that time he called Bill Shorten ‘a cunt’ in parliament.
Hold up. The Libs are the party who voted against decriminalising homosexuality in the 1970s and 80s, fought for discrimination when they couldn't stop the decriminalising trend (eg. can't adopt, different age of consent, no mos in the military), Howard did whatever he could to stop LGBTQ rights in the 90s and 00s (eg. killed ACT laws allowing civil unions, changed Marriage Act to stop same-sex marriage, stifled a national inquiry on LGBTQ financial discrimination) and the Libs today have followed in their hero Howard's footsteps in being an obstacle to LGBTQ rights (eg. the plebiscite). So when Chris Pyne says we might get marriage equality 'even sooner than everyone thinks' ... define sooner. Your party is a progress speedbump.
“I’m a fixer… I’ve fixed it by funding it in another way, which you’ll find out in the budget.”
This is going back a bit, but it still makes me laugh. Pyne was one of the most reprehensible conservative politicians of his time, but he was also unintentionally hysterically funny!

Recently, Tony Abbott has stated that he is against the reforms. Christopher Pyne’s response is to say to the least, confused. He recently stated O’Farrell was conned although previously stating it was a good deal. Pyne’s counter-offer is a…

Earn or Learn : The Government's Misunderstood Purpose of Education http://wp.me/p1D1R7-hZ
There has been much upset and anger at the Government instigated changes to education: University fee increases. University debt interest increase. University HECS proportion increase. Commercialisation of universities. The proponents chant earn or learn, competition will work its magic, fees will be less and new university places will be created. The opponents are derided as leaners, bludgers,…

Politics with Michelle Grattan: Christopher Pyne on being ‘the ultimate insider’
Michelle Grattan, University of Canberra
Former Liberal Minister Christopher Pyne attracted critics for his political front. But he always had plenty of friends and networks, enabling him often to be a player, if not always a “fixer”.
After his election to the South Australian seat of Sturt at age 25, he went on to hold senior portfolios, notably education and defence, and to stride the…
