🔥HOT and COLD❄️
Have you ever wondered if the legend of a vampire society still haunting Bridgeport is true? And if it is, why no one has ever seen them roaming the streets, hunting for their next pray? Well, the answer is that those disgusting bloodsucking monsters roll around their luxurious underground habitations all the time doing nothing and use folks like me taking care their dirty job. Or at least they used to.
Since I don't have story posts at the moment, here's a little outtake from the Roaring Heights trip...
Looks like he's really getting over his dislike of vamps.
The local indoor pool it was.
While the guys were busy figuring out which one of them was more athletic, Terra and Dahlia took the time to catch up.
“I still can’t believe you two have really moved in together already,” Dahlia admitted. “It feels kind of surreal. Like, we’re all just thrown together in Boris’s house and now, the majority of the people who were there have totally paired up. You and Matt, Carly and Wade, Leo and Julius. You know, those two have moved in together too.”
“So they were crushing on one another, huh? I thought there was some chemistry there,” Terra smiled. “Not everyone has paired up with someone in Boris’s house, though. I saw a picture of Frankie with this girl... strangest thing, she looks really familiar. And then there was a picture of Lawson with this blue-haired fairy.”
“Oh, that’s Maggie!” Dahlia told her. “I don’t think they’re dating. She’s a close childhood friend or something - they’re practically like siblings. I’ve heard she’ll go to the Academy with you next year.”
“With me? Are you sure you won’t come back?”
“I don’t know. I like the idea of studying at the academy, but I’m scared after going to the Stoneshields the last time.”
“Understandable,” Terra knew what she went through. “You can’t live in hiding forever, though.”
“I know. I keep telling Chris that, but he’s, well, he’s Chris.”
“What’s up with the two of you, anyways?” Terra asked. She recalled them dancing at her brother’s wedding. Was there more?
“We tolerate each other. And we don’t punch each other out anymore,” Dahlia joked, referring to their first meeting. “I admit, he has some great survival skills, but he’s always looking out for a potential enemy. Even more than I do, which is really saying something.”
“Can’t blame him for that,” Terra told her. “He’s been through hell because of the coven.”
“I know. So has everyone who’s ever had to deal with them.” She leaned back. “I just wish we could finally breathe easy, you know.”
“Maybe it’ll happen?” she could hope. “By the way, we’ve planted some plasma fruit in our garden. I’m not promising anything, but if we manage to grow them, they’re all yours.”
“Seriously? That’s so wonderful of you!” Dahlia smiled. “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank us just yet. Race you to the water?”
Summer vacation vibes.
Meanwhile, Chris and Dahlia have tracked their target to an expensive-looking beach house at the end of the street.
“The scent is the strongest here,” she told him. “What now?”
“It’s kind of quiet, isn’t it? Wait, listen,” he realized he could hear quiet conversation coming right from the house. “I can’t quite make out what they’re saying.”
Creeping closer towards the house, they hid behind the pillars upholding the building and were able to observe two women talking, one - the vampire Dahlia spotted at the park and the other unfamiliar to them.
“I’m going to have her come over again tomorrow. I want those wards on the house renewed,” the unfamiliar woman was saying quietly. “We don’t know how many of them are in the city.”
“Perhaps we should leave this city?” Camilla asked. “What if someone tipped them off? What if it’s someone we trust?”
“We can’t rule that out, but for now I’m assuming they are just investigating and making a move anywhere with Coven around won’t be a good idea. Trust me, I know.”
“Hey,” Dahlia whispered to Chris. “Is it just me or do they sound a whole lot like us?”
“They are enemies of the Coven too?” he nodded. “That’s the gist I’m getting.”
They didn’t get to say anything else due to someone bonking them both on the head from behind hard enough to make them black out.
“So, what do we do?” Chris asked. “Do we just wait?”
“For now,” Sylvia nodded. There was more she could’ve told them at this time, but it was still unverified information and she decided to wait until she had her facts right.
“I hate waiting,” Chris grumbled.
“At least we’re safe here,” Dahlia told him. “We’ve been here for months now and no one’s come after us. That’s good.” She’s had enough of being on the run.
“How do you know they’re not just bidding their time?” he parried. The peace and quiet made him uncomfortable.
“I don’t. I just take my breaks when I can get them,” she told him, slightly annoyed by his constant need to focus on the fight they’ve never asked to be involved in.
“I wonder what’s causing the friction within the coven,” Nellie told everyone. “Clearly, enough people don’t like Elvira to be a faction. What’s keeping the others in line?”
“Maybe she brainwashed them?” her daughter half-joked.
“Maybe she did,” Barron nearly gave away the half-checked info Sylvia had from her acquaintance. According to the guy, Elvira had her underlings convinced she was descended directly from the first ever vampire to exist - and had a way to prove it. Both Barron and Sylvia strongly doubted that she was, but it was a good way to make an impression on people you wanted to obey your every word. “But there are pretty direct methods to undo that, I’m sure.”
