Ok guys, I know a lot of people are upset about Suicide Squad winning for best makeup over Star Trek. And I see where you are coming from, I was also team Star Trek. However, can we discuss the amazing makeup that @cnelsonfx did for Killer Croc? First off, look at it. It's fucking beautiful. He used Vitiligo as color reference and wanted to incorporate the actor's skin tone into the makeup. Secondly, this makeup is done with foam latex, pros aide transfers and body paint. But everything was blended together beautifully. Thirdly, they wanted to make sure Adewale could emote through the Makeup, so dots where hand painted in to aide in that. Also all the little hand painted dots around his eyes to blend in the piece. Like just image that, hand painted little dots every day for 3 1/2 months! Fourthly, and this one is the real kicker, Adewale was apparently allergic to every glue available to fx artists. Do you hear me THIS BEAUTIFUL MAKEUP WAS APPLIED EVERY DAY AND PLAYED UNDER WATER WITHOUT TRADITIONAL ADHESIVES! like fuck off, that alone should be the reason why they won the Oscar. I'm so glad i had the chance to see the artists discuss their process at the symposium. It definitely gave me a new appreciation for the makeups. So GTFO with your comparison of Natalia and Harley. Christopher Nelson definitely deserves that Oscar and I will fight anyone who says other wise. .
