Tuning time :D. My family has had this thing for decades and I used to play with it as a kid but never actually tried to use it as an instrument… more just a noise-maker.

My only goal right now is to learn Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald or Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot lmao. If any of you guys play the autoharp tell me, or if you have any song suggestions lmao.

Sewing indemnity into the fabric of the sound

- a dusty, tobacco-burst-finshed Chromaharp sits upon a whitish formica table with classic foldable sections on either end

- An iphone rests six and two inches below, upon a green seat cushion that very well matches the peacock pattern of the tablecloth which hangs askance beneath the Chromaharp, tuned up above for the first time in ages

- This Chromaharp built with bars refracting mostly seventh and diminished chords as far as I can tell causing me to question its usefulness i.e. why it hasn’t been tuned before now

- Chords chosen in order of nostalgia or some such

- Iphone records pretty nicely when placed correctly and pretty weirdly when put in the right place however this time the cushion is crucial

- Any distortion or long reverb trail is intentional and does reflect the views of the instruments and individuals involved

Found a chromaharp at the thriftstore today.

Working on cleaning it, but will look into having someone do a proper clean and replacing of the felt and strings.

The Original Carter Family was the most influential group in early country music, recording dozens of hit songs between 1927 and 1941. Made up of A. P. Carter, his wife Sara Carter, and her cousin Maybelle Carter (who got the Carter surname by marrying A. P.'s brother Ezra), the group established many of the conventions of the genre, including styles of guitar playing and vocal harmony that remained standard for years. The Carters also collected and arranged many folk songs from both white and black traditions, bringing folk ballads, lyric songs and blues firmly into popular Country music.
