Man, you know you done fucked up when there’s over a million search results for how to undo what you’ve tried to force on your users.
It tickles me that so many Firefox users collectively went “Fuck THAT shit” to the new update that turns firefox into a Chrome Clone. It just shows that Mozilla no longer understands their user base and has completely jumped the shark.
(Hey, much like tumblr!)
Listen, Mozilla, if we wanted to use Chrome as our main/default broswer, we’d be using Chrome.
Of course, if you haven’t already updated to Firefox 57, and you’re not interested in using a Chrome Clone, then DO NOT UPDATE TO 57. TRUST ME.
For those who mistakenly trusted Mozilla and upgraded to Firefox 57 the new FUG-LY Chrome Clone, here’s how to revert back to an earlier version: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox
This seems to be working and hopefully will continue to function well until somebody much more programming savvy than I creates the new Classic Theme Restorer extension for Firefox.
(Believe me, if I had the programming-fu chops, I’d do it myself. Because fuck THAT shit.)
I know it says to delete firefox first before installing the older version; however, this WILL delete all of your current add-ons and extensions, and all your bookmarks and other data. YMMV, but I simply downloaded the other version, ran the install file/opened it, and it installed the older version in place of the Chrome Clone will still retaining all of my user data and extensions. I reverted back to Firefox 56.0.2.
There’s also Firefox sync: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/features/sync/
I also found this workaround for the new Firefox to help it look and act like the classic firefox we all know and love, however I would caution users who aren’t super programming savvy to use caution, as css is required, and it is coming from a third party and is not an official or officially approved fix:
