❝ let’s go to the haunted house! oh, please, please, please, please?! ❞
AUTUMN / HALLOWEEN STARTERS

the first to break the air of silence is a hum, acknowledging but not quite responding to her words. or her movements, legs kicking out every so often from the desk. haneul’s focused, as focused as he can be on the string of wires in front of him, an old camera he’s decided to play around with.
“why do you wanna go now?”
though now is the only appropriate time, he’s got work the next morning, relatively early to make up for the blunder of being late yesterday. he’s got a task and a half due by the end of next week for class and a whole monologue he has yet to start on. now is, if anything his only day to play around with the wonders of the world and capture what he can before it slips.
which is why he’s still focused on the camera, fingers precise and tongue poking out ever so often. it’s moments like this that haneul thinks people around him only appear as white noise, even to themselves. hearing their words echo unanswered with disrespect. so he hums again, a pleasant one, rolling off almost like a song when he snaps the right chip in place and the camera whirs.
the “got it” that leaves his lips is also for him but the smile afterwards is for the both of them. its rises as he does, getting brighter as he lifts the camera around his neck and pulls keys into his pocket. “alrighty, if I did this correctly we’ve got a night vision camera and maybe something to capture spirits so, let’s go test it out.”
sooner than later people will realize they’re not white noise but the entire background that it struggles against.
