Am I Sensitive To Bananas?
Since becoming extremely and continuously bloated in late 2012, I have been trying to figure out how to remedy this. I have tried many things. First of which was quitting gluten. I managed to lose a little bit of weight, but it did not help reduce the bloating for me whatsoever. By 2014 I was still extremely bloated and fatigued every day. I could still do day-to-day things, and had enough energy to do them at a normal pace... ...if I had a bunch of caffeine that day. Which was every day because life is life, and things need to get done. I was not working at this point in time, and felt like I had mostly recovered from all of the sickness I had in 2013. (A story for another day, perhaps?) My only problem was that my stomach grew throughout the day, it was always uncomfortable, and I could not stay awake without the help of an abundance of caffeine. This caused me to go see a Naturopath. She was really nice, and assessed me thoroughly. I was given a bunch of supplements to help me feel better, and another appointment. I went for several months, and consumed many supplements, but I wasn't getting better. One day I received an email from my Naturopath stating that the government didn't think they should be allowed to do their food sensitivity testing anymore, and if I wanted to get it done, I would have to do so right away before it was banned officially. It was a little pricey (more than I could really afford), but I did it because I needed answers in order to get better. Apparently I'm a big baby, because the tiny little pin prick that she did on my finger hurt like crazy for a week, but I was so incredibly happy to finally get some answers. When I received a message that the results were in, I booked an appointment right away. At the beginning of my appointment my Naturopath handed me a booklet's worth of paperwork with my results for us to go over. Basically she told me that it said I had way too much bacteria in my gut and that I have problems digesting dairy, bananas and pineapple. Great, three things I love. So my mom took me to the book store and bought me some books on becoming dairy free, and from there my dairy free life began. After several months of no change in my health, I gave in and began consuming dairy again, as I felt there was no point in cutting something out of my diet if doing so wasn't going to help me get better. Here I am today, I had a banana bread muffin this morning. Shortly afterward I felt really sick to my stomach. Am I actually sensitive to bananas? Is this what is causing my my sickness? Could it at least be contributing to it? My old chiropractor (and many others) state that those tests done by Naturopaths just tell you what you have eaten the most of in the last little while. Other people completely believe in their sensitivity tests. I have absolutely no idea what to believe. Still just trying to figure out what will make me better. ~ Jennie 💜
