Saw several posts abt it so I caved into curiosity and watched it
Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Wanna Be A Magical Girl is a great series so far and very worth the hype.
(I originally wanted to wait until the series was done, or at least until the first season was finished if it was to have multiple seasons, because I often cannot handle being in a new fandom when its source media is still ongoing because of how overwhelming it gets. But curiosity got the better of me, and I realized it would probably be years until I’d watch it if I went by my initial plan since it’s only on its second episode by far, so I watched it just now.)

It’s lived up to the hype so far!
It’s funny. I like how cartoony and dramatic/expressive the voice acting, sound effects, and visuals are. And it made me cringe at times (/positive !!!).

I like Aika. Her name and design is very pretty, both in her civilian and magical girl outfit.
I especially love the detail in the pilot where she simply pops into her magical girl look, but when she goes back to her “normal girl” clothes, she has a detailed transformation (detransformation?) sequence.
It captures her character. While an average/predictable magical girl-type character transforms elegantly into their magical form because it’s the “more interesting” part of their life, Aika has it reversed, because her “normal girl” identity is the one that is more interesting and appealing to her.
I like how her love for her new friend is enough to make her give in and do her magical girl job.

I like Zira a lot!
She is very, well... teenage girl.
Very relatable especially with her awkward behavior, cringey moments, and a bit of self-loathing when she feels she’s not good enough.
Might be my new favorite loser girlfailure (/affectionate !!!!) character if I find myself watching this series again in the future.

Gonna speed through the rest of the characters:
Hoshi is. Well, they just want to do their job. And they want Aika to do hers. Lol.
Eclipse is the typical funny incompetent villain henchman trope. I wonder if he’ll become a more serious threat later.
Lady DeVoid is interesting. Not much to say abt her.

And that’s all my thoughts.
Overall, this show is at least a 8.5/10 for me so far, if not 9/10.
I don’t think I will be watching it again or really interacting with the fandom anytime soon though.
Not their issue at all, it’s a me problem. I don’t have the emotional and mental capacity to get attached to another media at this time, and I don’t really enjoy watching stuff if I am not strongly emotionally attached to it. Will need to wait until my current intense fixation on Ex-Aid or Tobot dies down a little.
