SHE'S HERE! OMG SCHALA IS DONE! It took two years on and off and a lot of hand aches from hand sewing down the lace. I still have adjustments to do but I couldn't be happier. And yes, she's heavy AF. The sleeve interior is COVERED in applique.

It's so wonderful to be home! Here's a throwback to my second Schala build back in 2013 to celebrate. I'm so glad to have Schala rebuilt and ready to go to con. Magus is next on our rebuild list and once he's done they'll be back in our regular con rotation.

This was our very first build of Schala and Magus back in 2013. We had just started really committing to cosplay as a hobby and I decided it was finally time to build them. When the photographer asked us to pose I had no idea what to do other than drop to the floor. This was taken on the carpet in front of a table full of boffers and remembering the way people's faces lit up leaves me with a smile. To think that B.C. made this out of how dreadful those builds were warms my heart. I'm glad we could give him an editing project to enjoy. Looking back on these cosplays, I call them dreadful but I'm actually very fond of them still and will always carry the joy they gave me in my heart.

It's Chrono Trigger anniversary day! When Ali suggested I cosplay Schala, I had no idea how dear the character would become to me. And the fact that most of her circumstances are implied rather than told through the main story helped me connect dots that were relevant for my own life (I'm realizing most of my more recent cosplay tends to explore this theme!). I only discovered this game relatively recently, but that doesn't mean it's any less important to me!
