chrys’s family
Botan “Bo”
Chrys’s father; he was born and raised in the United States in California
Works in insurance as a claims adjuster; his job made him move to NY, where he met Sachiko
Bo had a rather low opinion of super-powered folk because of the amount of damage they can cause, but then his daughter ended up being one of those people and he had to Adjust. Continues to claim that they make his job harder, but he’s more understanding now
Very confident at work, not very confident about raising an opinionated daughter. She’s tested his views a lot and tested his patience
Sometimes his impatience would lead to yelling matches between him and Chrys. She felt very misunderstood by him growing up
Stern-looking, quiet, can be intimidating, very work-oriented but still tries to make time for his family (there were some years during Chrys’s childhood where he wasn’t great at making time), has strong morals
He influenced Chrys’s moral compass more than anyone else bc she admires his morals
As exhausted as he is by her, he’s very proud of Chrys. He’s also very proud of Hawthorn, though he does privately wish Hawthorn would date women instead of men
Sachiko
Chrys’s mother; born and raised in Japan; came to the U.S. for a year of college abroad and later decided to move
A violinist; now teaches music at a magnet school
Has four brothers and is the only daughter; was definitely spoiled growing up
Very opinionated; her views/opinions tend to align with Chrys’s more than Bo’s do, but when they don’t, there will be a long debate between them. Sachiko is the how Chrys learned to argue/present her ideas so well
With Sachiko, most debates end in them either coming to a compromise or saying “agree to disagree” and moving on; they rarely involve yelling
Like Bo, she’s very work-oriented, but she takes the responsibility of raising her children very seriously
Pushed Chrys and Hawthorn to value learning and education. Enrolled them in a lot of extracurricular activities as children, most of which they ended up dropping
Is an encyclopedia of information on superpowers because when she realized Chrys had powers, she started doing research and hasn’t stopped since
Hawthorn
His family usually calls him Sanzashi
Chrys’s older brother; older than Chrys by three years
He has way more chill than Chrys does
Doesn’t have powers. As a kid, he was jealous of Chrys’s powers but he’s since decided that he’d rather not have powers
Quiet and pretty introverted, but very amiable when approached
Very smart, works in analytics or somethin idk but he’s a math and computer guy
Graduated high school a year early
Gay; came out a year after Chrys did
He and Chrys are very close and always have been (tho they ofc had sibling spats). They talk/video chat multiple times a week. He likes hearing about the drama in Chrys’s life
General Thoughts
Her family calls her Kiku more than they call her Chrys/Chrysanthemum
Usually speak Japanese around the house. If Chrys or Hawthorn have a friend over, they’ll speak English (though they do forget to sometimes)
Her parents are So Tired
Chrys acts pretty much the same way around her family that she does around her peers, which means her parents have to deal with her rants (about capitalism, feminism, education, sex positivity, social issues in general, etc)
She has always been like this, but especially since her early teens, so they’re used to it but they’re like “please can we just have one family dinner without you doing this”
Hawthorn will deliberately stir the pot and comment on something that their parents will disagree with, just to get their parents to say something that will make Chrys get started on one of her rants
Her parents tried their best with raising a super-powered daughter
Chrys has made her parents a lot more accepting and progressive in general. They’ve learned to pick their battles with her
They’re supportive of her but will also think things like they wish she’d end up with a guy rather than a woman or non-binary person
Bo and Sachiko put both Chrys and Hawthorn through college

Her superpowers are super strength and the ability to turn into a giant pink fluffy beast. Her beast form is sorta gorilla shaped, with a wolverine/dog-like head. She has tusks, horns, and a hyena-like mane. The patterning on her fur changes depending on the clothes and jewelry she’s wearing.
Her powers started manifesting when she was a toddler. It was a weird thing for her parents to deal with
Considers herself a superhero. Definitely has an agenda. Punch fascists and fight the system. Anti-capitalism 100%. Eat the rich. That kind of stuff
Has an “I’m invincible” attitude
Smart and quick-witted, but encourages/does dumb things in the name of a good time

Calls her beast form her fursuit because she thinks it’s funny. Diamond has told people Chrys is a furry without realizing what it means and if anyone asks “Hey Chrys are you a furry?” she says “yes” just bc it makes her laugh
Calls Diamond a dumbass all the time but will get pissed if other people make fun of Diamond for being dumb
Has two rats: one named Princess Diana and one named Pope Stephen VI
Plays bass
Horny on main 24/7 and doesn’t care who knows it
Has a new relationship every couple weeks. Has a habit of going for film major/liberal arts fuckboys and alt girls with trust issues. None of these relationships work out
Loves horror movies and slasher films. Also loves anime, manga, and cartoons
