New Demigod Cabin: Chrysus
Chrysus is a minor god and a personification of gold. The shiny metal is often associated with the sun, nobility, and divinity. One writer called him "the child of Delos father of metals" and he was poetically associated with the sun god Helios and his mother, Theia, the titan goddess of sight and light. There are plenty of Greek myths involving gold such as the Golden Fleece, the Golden Apples of the Hesperides, and King Minos' golden touch, though Chrysus himself is rarely mentioned. Chrysus' cabin is, not surprisingly, covered with gold. Two gold statues, one of a ram and the other a bull, guard the entrance. Weather has no effect on them and they can temporarily come to life to protect the inhabitants. The cabin has a domed roof that is gold, and the metal covers every doorknob, handle, furniture leg, etc. There's also a chest full of gold coins and jewelry as well as golden accessories like phone cases and headphones. On a table near the beds is a container of "Golden" (vanilla) Oreos that never runs out. Historically, Chrysus' demigod children have often been talented jewelers and goldsmiths. They were heavily involved in the Baroque and Rococo periods. His children have a special connection to the metal, and many of them made discoveries that set off "gold rushes" in various parts of the world. Chrysus' son Eucratides I minted the largest gold coin in Antiquity. His favorite son was Gustave Klimt. Unfortunately the beauty and rarity of gold has also led to greed, war, jealousy, and betrayal. It's no surprise that some of Chrysus' children participated in the colonization of the Americas and the search for the fabled Cities of Gold. At first glance, people see Chrysus' children walking around with plenty of gold accessories and perceive them to be spoiled and glamorous. However, they are actually quite friendly and empathetic and tend to have "heart of gold" personalities. Each demigod carries a gold coin engraved with a griffin, which they can summon for a limited time for protection. Chrysus' children can also temporarily turn other metals to gold. This ability is used in battles to weaken enemies' weapons--gold is softer, more malleable, and melts faster--but requires the demigod to physical touch the item. Argent, the Archangel of Death & Chrysus, the Archangel of Life:
These two come in a duo because of how they play off one another! It just feels wrong to do one without the other. Argent and Chrysus are adopted siblings who are the current incarnations of the Archangels of Death and Life - the "system/the powers that be/etc." takes the eternal souls of the Archangels (and some other angels) and mixes them with mortal souls, thus the reincarnation cycle (very very short version of the explanation). Angels and Archangels cannot die a "normal" death, instead their death is determined by the "powers-that-be".
They're both currently 14 years old, although Argent looks younger due to his short height and baby-face. He wears heels to look taller.
Argent's mother was the previous Archangel of Death, but the position and soul was forcibly transferred to Argent the moment he was born in order to prevent a being with the power of an archangel and the freedom of a mortal from being born. She died an empty husk, and his father abandoned him shortly thereafter.
Because he is an incarnation of death, most living things naturally tend to avoid him. So he's a very lonely boy and he resents his position (and thus himself) for alienating him from others. He tries to narrow that gap by helping others, often throwing himself into problems... As long as they have nothing to do with his job as "Archangel of Death."
Chrysus is very different in personality from Argent. Spiteful and resentful towards seemingly everyone but her family, she's both full of rage and constantly burnt out. Due to mistakes of two previous incarnations, the soul of the Archangel of Life is "cursed" to feel the pain of every living thing; and while her pain tolerance is much higher than a normal person and a special eyepatch made by Argent helps to dull the pain, it still constantly irritates her.
Opposite of Argent, her disposition as Archangel of Life draws living things towards her. She despises those who cling to her looking for salvation, as for her it's just another reminder of the pain she is cursed to deal with and the things she cannot solve. Despite this, if it's at Argent's insistence she'll still (reluctantly) help out with anything.
hmm there's more, but that's it for now!

WAR IN DENVER STREETS
10/8/11
Denver, CO(AP): What began as a radio argument between supporters of two "gods," Nihancan and Chrysus, and soon evolved into a riot and bloodbath, turned into all-our war for several weeks.
Nobody is clear where the weapons came from - Denver is not known, for instance, for its gang violence - although some suggest they came straight from the "gods." Nor does anyone have a clear idea of the death toll, as reporters have been shot on sight. A news chopper was taken down with a rocket launcher last week, and since then, no news organization has even tried to get close.
What reports have come out suggest an apocalyptic mess. Why is the President doing nothing?

DENVER RIOTS' BODY COUNT CLIMBING
Denver, CO(AP): Supporters of two "gods," Nihancan and Chrysus, began arguing last Tuesday over the radio. Soon, this had turned into shouting matches in public. The police were called in when it turned violent, but many of them were more interested in arguing than policing.
Over the weekend, this went from loud protests and some fisticuffs to a bloodbath. Nobody knows who fired the first shot, but at least a hundred people are confirmed dead, and large portions of downtown Denver are on fire.
The "gods" responsible have not been seen nor heard from in the last week.
