rose and kanaya always go out on little dates wherever the crew stops for the show and dave follows them and takes blurry pictures of the two of them in occult stores or boutiques or something and posts all of them with the caption of "maybe the real cryptid was the friends we made along the way"

on long car rides jade and john switch off driving since theyre the only two that can drive and not be likely to crash the car into a tree the two switch off between shotgun and the drivers seat

rose and kanaya sit in the middle and both will often work on their little projects (knitting and seeing respectively) or read books sometimes out loud to the rest of the crew that or theyre being gross and kissing

dave and karkat sit in the back where they get up to so much mischief, the ceiling is covered in dicks, neither of them will shut up, karkat just wants to read the shitty romance novels he picks up at every grocery store they stop at but dave wont stop bothering him

at one point the crew does attempt to bring karkat back to his family but his adoptive father ultimately rejects him for a.) being gay and dating a dude b.) being a trans dude c.) not looking human anymore and d.) hes 19 now and been on his own for long enough how dare he come home and seek help from his family

karkat of course takes it really badly and storms off to somewhere else in this shitty kind of big town and it takes forever for the crew to track him down and even longer for dave and kanaya to convince him to come live with the rest of them

he spends the car ride back up to their place desperately clinging to daves side because he wants to feel like hes worth something and not bad and disgusting

dave just holds him a little teary eyed behind his shades and more than a little pissed at his bfs shitty dad and whispers little reassurances to him and gives him little kisses all over his face to try and cheer him up
