When I was a younger teen, unfortunate circumstances saw me losing a, what could be considered today, quite valuable Pokémon card collection. It was in a storage unit that ended up getting auctioned off-- hundreds of cards, tucked lovingly into sleeves, in a material Looney Tunes binder (if I'm remembering correctly). Cards that read "Pocket Monster" on the backs. Cards in English and Japanese. So. Many. Chubby. Pikachus.

I have gotten back into collecting Pokémon cards for reasons (they're cute and I like collecting and organizing things; ask me about my sticker encyclopedia) and I'm just... my heart wrenches, knowing what I used to have.

I hope they aren't in a landfill somewhere. I hope they went to someone who loves Pokémon. And maybe Looney Tunes (or polly pockets, barbies, my Japanese editions of the Inu-Yasha manga, THE TANSU AND KOKESHI DOLLS AND WEDDING KIMONO AHHH I'm fine I'm good I'm an adult). I hope it all went to someone who liked it and found joy in it and I pray someday a chubby pikachu comes back to me.

I wish they'd bring chubby Pikachu back. I think that design has way more character, personally. Although, then again, if people like the slimmer design, more power to em. I just prefer the old school chonky boy
