D+ DESIGN
by Kool Koor
Growing up in the South Bronx with a mother and sister who were both artists, Chuck Hargrove, aka Kool Koor, spent his childhood interested in space technology and technical drawing. Exposed to graffiti as a teen in the mid-70s he quickly started writing himself and soon settled being a “motion writer”—writing graffiti inside trains while they’re rolling. As a member of the TMK Crew Kool Koor was one of the pioneers of New York City graffiti, arguing over style issues, hanging out with Jean Michel Basquiat in the gallery scene, and pushing the boundaries of classical graffiti. Several decades later Kool Koor was in Brussels, Belgium where he created this work for D+, a 20th century modernist design and decorative arts house on Rue Blaes—a work which D+ says has quickly become one of the most photographed walls in Brussels. @koolkoor @dplusdesign.be
