Well the good news is we’re alive...and the bad news is that this is kind of an uncomfortable moment right now.
Trend #IStillLoveChuck on Twitter!!!!
I know it sucks, but hell, it’s the first one of the year
Ohhh now I'm remembering Chuck's terrible finale arc too. Like, at least it was better than TROS because it didn't betray all of the themes of the show? But it still failed because it made the core relationship of the show redundant and pointless because it erases Sarah's memory. (Not to mention all the other bad choices in Season 4/5....) Why are the endings to all the best things always this bad
I stopped watching at the end of season 4 because I knew what was coming, but yeah. The worst fucking ending they could have done. So pointless, so empty and needlessly depressing. Why do people think it’s ~artistic~ and ~bold~ to completely shit on everything that was accomplished in the series? To take your characters back to square one?
Are endings really so hard? Just fulfil your promises and deliver satisfying resolution? Show us what the characters have learned and how they solved whatever their problem was at the beginning. Have a fucking conclusion where you restate your goddamn thesis, the same one. You don’t need to tear down the set and kill all the characters, you don’t need to hit the reset button, you can just survey all that’s changed and pat yourselves on the back with a nice natural stopping point we all feel good about having reached. Like a victory, or entering a new life stage, or the implication things will go on and further adventures will be had but nothing is hanging over them any more.
No, all these assholes are obsessed with ‘full circle’ and think it means ‘the character arcs were literally circles, nothing matters, life is meaningless’.
Look, Sarah. I don't have parents. I mean, not really. I don't talk about it because that's just the way that things are now. But it wasn't always this way. Morgan was there the first day that my mom took off. He didn't say much, because, honestly, what is a fifth-grader supposed to say? But we sat and split a cherry cheesecake and played "Legend of Zelda" all night long. And my dad, well, that's a whole other story. But Morgan was there for that too.
One of my favorite things about Chuck is the fact that Sarah kicks ass 24/7 and not only does chuck not get all "oh but my masculinity", but he says it makes her even sexier in his book.
