In your opinion how easy is it to get into 3d modeling? Im hoping to start doing it right soon and I've never even come close to touching it. I only have like a traditional art background, just wondering how crazy of a jump it will be. Im prepared for it to not be easy
It’s a lot easier now than it was back when I started that’s for sure! I started doing it back when I was modding Halo 1 for the PC and eventually for when I was making 3d assets for Halo Custom Edition so I had that drive to teach myself (gmax at the time, and eventually 3ds max and zbrush and beyond). I never went to school for it either! The indie game dev scene for sure kicked off the 3d modeling resources available and places like the PolyCount Wiki are great places to check out cool 3d modeling resources and the PolyCount forum is a great community to get input and critique(they are somewhat oriented to game art but it’s really any digital-3d-art medium). (they are also a community found like everywhere in the game industry and sneak the polycount logo like everywhere)
Currently the big 3 that you’ll probably hear about the most are 3ds max, blender, and maya. I’ve personally used them all but I have the most experience in 3ds max of them all.
[Opinion zone] but I personally love 3ds max as it has become pretty favored by 3d modelers for games and architecture and vfx/film so I have my bias for 3ds max lol. I only really like Maya for its animation toolkit(that seems to be why I see a lot of people use it for mostly) but it feels very lacking and clunky and unstable to me otherwise... For reference lot of 3d modelers I know use it and worked on popular games such as Overwatch especially for 3d environment work since its advanced modeling tools pretty much lend itself to create some really fantastic architecture(x|x|x) and a lot of these guys hang around polycount so you’ll probably see a lot of threads and resources there with 3d max bias. 3ds max has an absolutely great modeling toolset and workflow with the modifier stack that makes it very non-destructive and modular and soft-image CAT makes layered animation a breeze(feel the favoritism yet? lol).
It can have a steep learning curve since the first time you open 3ds max you get blasted with a billion buttons and features but once you kind of get the hang of how things are organized you’ll get a hang of where everything generally is so you only have to reach out to them when you need it(I have Swift Loop binded to my ~ key because I use it so much especially for subdiv modeling). I’m going to give Modo a very special mention because god those modeling tools look attractive.
Here’s a great tutorial series to get started with 3ds max!
Check out BenMathi’s 3d modeling and texturing tutorials for sure! A lot of the information and techniques in his videos can translate very well to other 3d modeling software you settle on.
Concept: that comic that has like " X has two hands" but since zenyatta has so many hands he just holds everyones hand and everyone is poly and its preddy gud
I LOVE THIS AND I LOVE YOU
TFW IT WASNT EVEN LIKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE CAP AMERICA NAZI THING AND NOW THIS WHOLE BATMAN NONSENSE SHOWS UP
I KNOW RIGHT??? THEY HEARD US AND UNFORTUNATELY ANSWERED THE CALL WE WANTED THEM NOT TO
Why are comic companies so OBSESSED with turning all their heroes into villains!! the only people who enjoy that are the gritty losers who think good guys being evil is funny/interesting/dark or something. it’s not creative, it’s over done, boring, and absolutely an excuse to make beloved heroes do ~dark things~ that otherwise would be OUT OF CHARACTER (newsflash: IT STILL IS EVEN IN AU’S)
when will comics industries stop sucking onto gritty, edgy, dark, dangerous ~murder criminal~ themes and actually write decent stories again…
Local Police woman weight lifts civilian and astronomer in a show of excellent strength and friendly compassion
Because his robot girl OCs are really cute I drew @chuddbear‘s cute robo girls/gfs with my robot apollo :p I think they’d be good buddies if they all met~ anyways, time to go back to drawing more DC comics though i might draw more robo buddies because I can do whatever the heck i want with my art >:P
(please don’t repost or use w/o permission, and leave my description; thanks!)
You have big steven universe energy i think

What is your fav and least fav colors
Hmmmmm My faves are:Pink, yellow, gold, matcha green, brown, black, red, purple, white, cyanI don’t really have any colour I really dislike. I think of colours as in how I work with them and how I surround myself with them. Some I really want a lot of, like pink, but some I don’t really like but forks well contrasting with others in small doses.
