Chunta: why he actually mattered

When The Page I Write On This Holy Night (RikaRen's Xmas event) got translated, I was suprised by how Ren was hurt by Chunta's betrayal, like did she spend enough time to actually get attached to the little bugger? but then I remembered her reaction to Chunta's backstory of getting rescued by Santama (that's Santa beard Mitama) and wanting to pay her back: she saw herself in Chunta. Santama helping Chunta after he fell from the nest is parallel to Rika helping Ren after she attempted to commit suicide the 2nd time (by jumping off a roof).

So that's why Ren was so determined to help Chunta spread joy: she saw herself in his effort to express his gratitude to his savior, same as her (and Rika seems to have noticed this, as seen by how she acts: after being a little suspicious of the whole thing, she suddenly decides to go all in after seeing how much it meant to Ren)
