Quiet late autumn/early winter antique outfit, pairing a hushed grey kimono with leaves falling over spidery ground (probably kori-wari/cracking ice), and a beautifully matching leaves patterned purple-to-white ombre haori.
The antique chuya-obi (meaning it has a different pattern on reverse) has a striking impressionist painting pattern. Note how the striped obiage colors nicely tie the whole outfit together.

Chuya obi appeared during Late Meiji era and quickly became highly fashionable. They were called “day/night obi” as they were reversible, with one bright “day” side, and a darker “night” side.

Just me, myself and I hanging out on Saturday. I would have much rather went to London with a friend, but because of constantly changing plans, by the time I found out I was actually free, she was already gone :(
Recent London Outing
Couple of weeks ago I went to London to photograph my friend as she wore the Travelling Kimono. It was a nice day, so of course I had to wear kimono too.
I paired up this purple komon with my handmade chuya obi that I showed here some time ago. I got pretty excited when I noticed that the purples roses on obi match the kimono perfectly! It's hard to see, but my shoes also have a plaid design like the obi.
