coming over to tumblr to bitch about this in length but i fucking hate you and people like you. puss in boots was incredible but this guy like many people arent aware that studios are made up of multiple people who work on different projects at any point in time and they will not always consistently produce the highest quality material

not even going into the fact i am 1000% sure ruby gillman is probably like a fine movie its just if a movie isnt a fucking immediate 9.5/10 (lets face it people who think like this are too cowardly to rate it a 10/10) then its worthless. its mid. its bad. where do you get off saying movies that range from 5/10-8/10 suck when theyre "fine to great just not amazing"

the state of movies and people discussing how good or bad they are especially from a studio wide scale is so fucking bad none of you deserve movies anymore i think because if its not perfect kino following up a great film its a letdown and bad. shut the fuck up

theres a part of me that worries after wendigoons video on skinamarink that like most youtubers he accidentally implanted theories into other peoples minds without them thinking for themselves first. not that hes doing it on purpose, its just something that happens a lot be it movies or args being explained or talked about

i saw a take on here that bothers me. the jist was "if the movie was a metaphor itd be more straightforward in its plotline and presentation." that is just an objectively wrong statement when you have movies like inland empire. movies can be as obtuse as they want, especially the more abstract ones, and still have a metaphor theyre trying to get across. being loose doesnt mean it doesnt have a meaning

its almost a cop out answer, but the way its set up, i see skinamarink as a type of... horror rorschach test. which is perfect for it i think

the movie barely shows shit. barely gives information. you as a viewer are left with pieces of info through a dream like haze. an extreme example of your mind makes the horror, but like a child anything can be made scarier with your imagination. like hands at the window at night being revealed to be tree branches

your takes on it are what makes it scary. it is what you think it is. i dont think it doesnt have a meaning or metaphor to it otherwise. the creator claimed it was similar to a hansel and gretel tale. i just think like a fairy tale, whoever reads or sees it makes their own conclusion
