It takes 5-6 hours for a Cicada to molt. It took me about as long to paint this thing. American Kestrel on Maverick 100s . The most common falcon in the USA, the American Kestrel is one of the best birds to start with if you want to get into Falconry. I once considered buying myself a falconers glove just so I could reenact the opening lines of The Second Coming by W.B. Sri Lankan Junglefowl on Marlboro Gold. . You’d be justified thinking this was just a rooster, but you’d also be wrong. While closely related to the Red Junglefowl from which almost all domesticated chickens evolved from, this guy is different. He’s not Red. He’s also from Sri Lanka. Big difference. Also, they have a sister/wives thing going on, except the opposite. It’s like a Brother/Husbands deal, where one lady Sri Lankan Junglefowl is looked after by two or three males, often brothers. Red Whiskered Bulbul on Parliaments . I don’t know what it is about humanity that we must constantly find the familiar in that which is unfamiliar but the call of the Red Whiskered Bulbul is often transcribed as sounding like “pleased to meet you”. Now I had to look up a few videos of this to hear it for myself, and sure, if you squint your ears and have moderate hearing loss, perhaps you could interpret the call as sounding like “pleased to meet you” but to be honest, it’s a stretch. Lesser Prairie-Chicken on Newport Menthol Blue 100s . The courting of the Lesser Prairie-Chicken is a process called booming. The male will inflate the sacks of loose flesh in the side of their necks until they look like a singular giant orange scrotum, then snap their tail, making a sound similar to one of those groaning tube toys you had a a kid but sped up. You know the ones. You’d flip it upside down and something would slip down inside making this dying kind of sound.
