Me and some friends like to joke around and see what would happen if we put a bunch of our Spinel AU’s in one place. The result? Wholesomeness. We call it the The Spinel House 😂

This demonstrates Spinel as a foil for Steven way better than anything Future was trying to do.  Aside from the one line where she gives Steven own advice, Spinel's role feels like an extended cameo.  She doesn't experience his freakout with White, and during the ending confrontation, she's still can't pick up on him having a serious problem.  Nothing like this comic.  I also never believed in the Diamonds as being Steven's 'family,' like they keep saying.  Besides them not being reliable authority figures on emotion, we saw how just being near one of them could send Steven into an absolute fit.  But the start of this further demonstrates how they can behave that way through Spinel, giving Steven something meaningful to contrast to.
