The temptation to write an Isterik origin run is insane, like I see why there are so many of them now. you take one look at the black box of their relationship and you're like how the fuck did this happen? and everybody is doing it a little differently. there are a few that I like a lot but I'd still put my own spin on it and is that enough to get me writing my own version?

I want it on record (tumblr) that I think there's a good chance that Erik will turn out okay after KCD2--if he doesn't go and get himself killed. Throwing everything away for revenge and then not getting revenge is probably the best outcome for his mental health and his ability to start the grieving process. There's a real chance we'll actually see that happen in KCD3. I bet it'll be super fucking cathartic for both him and us.

But as the self-appointed number 1 Istvan Toth apologist, I also think there was a path to both of them becoming better people and healing together. They just need better community. Something to refute the idea that the stronger dog absolutely has to fuck the bitches.

“What took you so long?” Hans whispers in a poor attempt to hide how desperately grateful he is. They’ve done this song and dance before. “Oh you know me, sir. Stopped for a drink with the yackers; killed a boar - with a spear - of course, then I had to butcher it,” Henry whispers back as he tentatively reaches out. Then his voice goes rough when he pivots to the real answer, “I thought I could get you out before winter, but it took too long to find Liechtenstein.” Hans sighs in a sad sort of way that he hopes comes off as disappointment but it’s really a mourning for how bad things are going. “Well you’re here now, that’s what’s - ow! Easy!” He snatches his arm away, which also hurts, of course. There’s something in his wrist that’s not right. “Can you walk? We have to get out of here before Erik comes back.” Hans huffs, “How are we going to do that? The ladders are gone.” “I’ve got another way out,” Henry says firmly and holds his hand out. He asks again, “Can you walk?” “I can but I’m not... I can’t do it.”

Nothing is going to plan and nobody is happy.

Henry puts his hands up level with his shoulders to show that they’re empty, and turns around slowly, in spite of Istvan’s sharp, “Stop moving!” The point of the knife grazes his neck and knicks him. A red bead forms near where his beard peters out. Frustrated, Istvan makes a grab for Henry’s sword and yanks it out of its scabbard. He’s embarrassed knowing that Henry could’ve stopped him if he’d wanted to. “I have to go find Hans,” Henry says as he takes a step backwards. With a complete lack of emotion, he adds, “Don’t make me hurt you.” “Tell me what the fuck is happening!” Istvan shouts, moving forward to keep Henry in reach. “I don’t know exactly. I lost them for a bit at the end, then I heard arguing and by the time I got to where I could see them it had escalated,” Henry says, chewing the side of his mouth. “Somehow, Bartosch was with them and--” “Who the Hell is Bartosch?” “Black Bartosch, from Trosky. The three of them - him and Hans and Erik were arguing. He’s mad because I made him chase me from their camp and they lost their bandit escort. He threw a fucking fit and pushed Bartosch into a mineshaft. Your boy’s a right bolond.” “Don’t get cute with me,” Istvan snarls.
