however you chose to feel about an ambiguously aged ship is up to you, but there really is no need to slip condescension into your posts claiming that no one else in the cr fandom is capable of doing any analysis on character ages before coming to their own conclusions, or that everyone else is just "misunderstanding" the ship. there are arguments that have been made against darkmilk on multiple fronts just as passionately as you've made yours in defense of it, and even aside from that no one is obligated to engage in online discourse in order to own their views. have your ship in your own space, and respect people when they say that it makes them uncomfortable and that they'd rather not see it. that's really all that needed to be said.
See I agree with this. Because as I’ve said, nothing’s confirmed and you interpret however you want. And I do respect boundaries. I block people beforehand if I see they hate the ship. I don’t like engaging with people who hate the things I take comfort in.
What I’ve noticed with this fandom (honestly I don’t think it’s particular to CR tbh) is that people tend to form one idea pretty quickly and stick to it. And if it’s really liked and held up as established fanon, people aren’t really likely to drop the idea.
The point of the post wasn’t to convert other people to the ship. It was to provide a new perspective that I hadn’t seen anywhere else last time I checked.
And you don’t have to agree with the new perspective. You can finish scrolling through the post and think “This is completely wrong”. And that’s fine.
It is very likely that condescension does end up seeping into these types of posts, and I’ll apologize for that. I’m super passionate and super particular on analyses. (And with this post it felt like this image just trying to put everything down).
But I guess my overall question to you is: When am I allowed to say “Hey I want to talk about an interpretation that vastly differs from everyone else’s. Is anyone down to listen?” Because in my opinion, the general reading on DarkMilk feels a lot more extreme for lack of a better word? So I want to say my own opinions about it.
If I’m invading people’s spaces by making an analysis with what I feel are genuinely original points on my own public account, then am I not allowed a space because I’ve already done the prerequisite of checking people’s DNIs and blocking people beforehand. I try to filter out my content beforehand so I don’t irritate myself for 0 reason.
I like speaking my mind. I want to be able to continue to do that and just talk about the things I like in any fandom I’m in. But I’ll keep working on both my own analysis skills and also being more considerate to others.
Thanks anon, have a good day
Edit: Also added an editor’s note to the post to say that the fandom’s ability to interpret ages 100% relies on Devsisters’ decision on clarifying. My intention wasn’t making it sound like the fandom not being able to fully agree and know how old characters are is their fault.
