Sometimes you just gotta draw your ocs looking cool as heck
Hello friends!
I am looking for a couple of alpha readers for my adult fantasy romance novel: Cindercast.
The premise: 23yr old Ellira tries to kill a king and fails, and finds herself trapped and vow-bound to a foreign prince who wants in on the regicide. She'll need to confront difficult situations, conflicts, internalised ableism, and learn to trust if she's to succeed this time, and get out of the maze kingdom alive.
Stats:
113k words long.
Adult (or New Adult?) Fantasy Romance
Contains sexually explicit content (will provide ample warning).
Deals with heavy subjects such as domestic violence, familial abuse, trauma, and internalised ableism.
What's the job? Ideally, I would like readers who are familiar with the genre. I'm here to listen and learn from your reading experience, so honesty and constructive feedback is a must, and greatly appreciated. I'm aiming for a 3-week turnaround, but I'm loosey-goosey with that and don't mind accommodating longer timelines!
I'll provide the manuscript in parts through google docs, so you can make comments and edit suggestions wherever you feel the need to.
I would also value the ability to chat with you regarding your comments/feedback, just in case something needs further clarification 😊
I’m most interested in high-level comments and feedback pertaining to plot points, characters, plot holes, character consistency, pacing/engagement issues, if I've written something potentially harmful, etc.
If you're interested but not sure what's expected from an alpha reader, I recommend reading this post!
If you're interested, please send me a message. If not, I'd really appreciate you reblogging this post 💝 Thank you!!
there’s a reason Cindercast is my passion project and it’s because of lines like this
[Image description: a screenshot of a word document with a white background and black text that reads “‘I’ll do what I have to,’ I say, looking at him. ‘I always do.’ Redacted watches me. I don’t move; I’m completely serious, and if he doesn’t know that by now, he’s in for a real shock if the time ever does come for me to shit my pants.”]
the dynamic of this novel is just
a: let's kill my dad
b: okay, bet
a: wait i have no plan
b: that is ok i bought a stick and it's sharp. plan is one word. kebab
sapphire and ruby!
thank you for asking!! ♡
Sapphire: The most upbeat dialog or overall scene in your wip
ooh this is difficult! the first one that comes to mind is this except from my first draft of Cindercast:
Ruby: Is there any symbolism used in your wip?
yes. surely. most likely. of course. uh. lots! i think. am i blanking now? yes!!
Last Line Tag
Thank you @writingamongther0ses for tagging me!
Here is the last line I wrote for Cindercast:
When I speak, it carries like a distant lark’s cry, a hair short of a whisper and completely foreign on my tongue. ‘Thank you. For helping me.’
