Time to do the Arpees
So! I've been doing some character development things for Cindrelle, but I haven't taken the time to, y'know, actually play her. It's probably time I fixed that.
Tomorrow afternoon/evening I'll be hanging out in Gridania whereabouts in order to get things started with her. She's a no-name adventurer just getting into this whole not-dying-by-monster job, so you can expect either admiration or defensiveness on her part.
I'd be fine if you don't let me know and just walk up and start rping tomorrow, though if you want to work something out in advance, feel free to poke me here! And if you want to skip rping the whole first meeting thing, we can work something out and go from there.
Layers Meme for Cindrelle
LAYER ONE : THE OUTSIDE
Name: Cindrelle Alambertel Eye color: Gray Hair style/color: Gray with white/pale bleaching, largely a result of the sun. Almost always worn braided and pinned up. Height: 6 fulms, 2 ilms Clothing style: Practical above all, but simple and elegant when she can help it. Usually hindered by an unfortunate fondness for pastels. Best physical feature: Eyes, or at least the lashes. She is not so fond of the color.
LAYER TWO: THE INSIDE Fears: Being in someone's debt. Guilty pleasure: Sleeping in all day, fancy soap, rock candy. Biggest pet peeve: Being spoken to condescendingly. Ambition for the future: Being able to support herself and her family.
From NPC Faucertaux in Quarrymill:
Mayhap you've heard the tales, but the place they call Redbelly Hive wasn't always a wretched nest of scum and villainy. In the old days, it was home to a hamlet called Boughbury, where Hyur and Elezen alike lived a life of peace. That was before the Calamity came and all hells broke loose. Those Redbelly whoresons moved in when the villagers fled, and they've had their run of the place ever since.
The reason I'm quoting this is because I've already been having thoughts of a Redbelly-related backstory for Cindrelle, through family if not her directly, and this just gave me about a million more reasons to go through with it.
Maybe it is just because Quarrymill has lotsa people from Boughbury, but I have to say I am vaguely creeped by the way 'duskwight' 'bandit' and 'whoreson' seem to be interchangable terms among the NPCS. Especially coming out of a main storyline quest where those same bandits were the NPCs that showed up to help w/ fighting the empire. Props to the game for actively showing the bias of different NPCs, though.
♘
She never had any pets growing up, and as an adult Cindrelle’s never considered getting a pet just to have one. If she did, it would be primarily for another purpose- a mount, or for assistance in a fight, or even just as a ratcatcher.
(She does comment on occasion that efts are cute in a slimy way, though.)

Being usually money-savvy (read: cheap as hell) means that Cindrelle tends to walk rather than rent a chocobo to get around. The exception to this is Thanalan during a dust- or sandstorm, because that stuff gets everywhere. Anything that will get her away faster is more than worth the cost.
