“ who did this to you ? ”
send “ who did this to you ? ” for the sender to find the receiver injured and demand to know who did it.
Balekin's tamperamental punishments is something Cardan has gotten used to in the eight, long years that he had to stay with him. Since the prime of age of something very little over ten, he has been familiar enough with them that he is able to tell when his oldest brother is punishing him just for the sadistic thrill of it, or when there is a far more important underlaying reason that caused his raging fury, for they turned particularly cruel when he suspected ( least of all had evidence of it ) that the Prince had unsorcelled the glamoured humans forced into servitude in Hollow Hall and removed them from his property, into the safety of their former homes. For the most part, the gap in the servants' numbers went unnoticed by the eldest Greenbriar as he thought of humans to be worthless and inferrior to Faes and therefore unworthy of his attention even if they were the sole reason his large estate was clean and fuctional. However, what he despises more the mortal beings is thieft of what he considers he has ownership over. Therefore, when Balekin realised the young maid tending to his private quarters had disappeared, and when Margaret informed him that Ella was last seen conversing with Cardan, he took it upon himself to make an extravagant exemplification of just how badly the Prince offended him; by having Margaret whip him across the back with iron invested lashes before the entire household of human servants to witness, adding humilation beside the throbbing pain of his sore and bleeding back. Normally, when such punishments take place, the Prince would withdraw to his rooms ( if he was allowed in them and wasn't forced to spend the night in the cold dangeons beneath the Hollow Hall estate ) where Margaret would tend to his injuries with oils made of herbs and healing concuctions before leaving him to rest for the remaining of the day; This time, however, he can do no such thing, for he has arranged to meet with the girl he smuggled out of Elfhame to check on how she is adjusting in the human environment where she had been taken years prior. So, despite the pain cursing through his body, despite the fact that he nearly fell off his steed numerous of times due to how close his body was to giving way, Cardan still manages to travel across the daring sea of Elfhame and into the secction ― state, he believes the humans call it ― that he recalls Ella taking refuge in. All this for a disgusting human girl who, most likely, when given the same choice, would have left him for dead. It takes him by surprise when she storms out of the motel room, ever so eager to see the cause of the commossion but then he recalls that she probably thought of the steed hooves to belong to the Folk who might have come to reclaim her as their own, so he pays little attention to her as he ties his steed to one of the lamps posts by the parking lot. ❛ It matters not. ❜ The Prince answers as he moves towards the door of the motel room, treading carefully as to not further irritate the injury hidden beneath his silky shirt. When he inside, he takes a seat by the end of one of the two identical beds and visibly relaxes when his body sighs in relief. ❛ I don't trust they have been any disturbances here, have they ? ❜
