If I were the head of marvel I would make Logan (wolverine) indigenous Canadian, Daken half indigenous Canadian/ half Japanese, and Laura/Gabby half indigenous Canadian/ half Latina.
Thoughts?
I like the concept of First Nations Logan, I've definitely thought about interpreting him as a moc before, but I always have mixed feelings about it. I mean, he's an inherently violent, beastial character, and his whole thing with Jean would read very "forbidden savage brown man pursuing Innocent White Woman" which. obviously isn't great. It's kind of a bummer honestly because on a surface level brown Logan kicks ass but as soon as u dig it's like hm.
Laura with native heritage absolutely vibes with me though. Latinamerica is very diverse and there's tons of indigenous heritage to consider there, I personally tend to imagine her as Oaxaca. Of course this would also extend to our girl Gabby!
Akihiro is kind of in the same boat as Logan for me with imagining him as native. Especially since his early portrayals tend to be. sexually predatory. to put it mildly. There's something to be said about him as an east asian man being portrayed as masculine and desirable though. I'd like if he was more consistently illustrated with his ethnic features in canon stuff, but that's a nitpick you can make with literally any non white character lol
I’ve been doing religion/faith research for making my characters especially Jewish ones cause the stereotypes are very specific and hard to find and very ingrained in folklore. I was wondering if gold eyes were a stereotype to avoid for a Jewish character and if a werewolf type character was an antisemetic trope to avoid as well?
Jewish werewolf with golden eyes
I have not heard of a gold eyes stereotype. I'd say the only eyes one I've ever heard is an assumption that blue-eyed (and blonde-haired) Jewish people "pass" because people expect us to be brown-eyed, and uhhhhh I don't know about that (those are my colors, and I also have Propaganda Features.)
Werewolves!
Okay, so I actually wrote a Jewish werewolf (in Cinnamon Blade: Knife in Shining Armor) and here's a post where I talk about my thought processes when creating him so that he wouldn't be an inhuman stereotype: Short answer he's a giant Lawful Good type.
WWC: Jewish Monster Character Doing Harm
Basically other than that I'd avoid blood libel or anything else that sounds like consumption of human flesh especially of gentiles, and I'd also advise avoiding scenes where this character is hurting gentile characters.
-- Shira
Well Shira is our werewolf expert but for gold eyes, I would feel weird about that unless a big proportion of the non-Jewish characters also had this feature, and/or you did a lot of other work to distance yourself from the money-grabbing stereotype. Otherwise, for me it would be like...do they only see gold?? Especially as this isn't a commonly described eye-colour in most media I've consumed.

What a very fucking aphobic thing to reblog and I thought you respected aroaces
Hey cinnamon it sounds like you want me to out myself as on the aro + ace spectrum and that you want me to share my personal fucking experiences with my sexuality. I’d just love to tell you, that while you’re arguing about some fictional characters and artwork, i get to talk to real life people who are in the community and you know what they’re struggling with? Real issues. Housing crisis, sexual assault, domestic violence, the foster care system, racism. I can guarantee to you that’s what so many aro ace people are thinking about right now. Guess what. The “aphobic artwork” that i reblog is made by ace people. Kindly stop making assumptions and virtue signaling. Harrassing creators isn’t a good look. I’ve told you not to be hostile, instead you’ve disrespected my boundaries and then proceeded to delete your comments/ blocked me when you got upset that I pushed back. You made racist comparisons. You’re assuming that all aroace experiences are the same and that’s looking very aphobic of you.
My biggest criticism is the winter spirits from hearts warming eve! They made several episodes about it in the previous generation and the new movie decided to be connected to the g4 so where are they?
Like I didn’t spend a decade of my life watching g4 mlp just to forget the lore! (If it wasn’t connected I wouldn’t care but they made it connected not me👀)
Exactly!! If it wasnt connected , i would have zero problems with most of the magic aspects in the movie but since it is connected....it just feels like they didnt bother to look at the established lore 😔 idk idk like its not a Bad movie but it needed another good look over yknow
A princess and her animal friend meet a man and get married at the end, the villain is gay coded for sure
i tried to narrow it down uh
badly describe a disney movie in my inbox
You ever watch Star Trek?
I’ve seen episodes here and there (and at least one of the recent movies), but it’s not something I’ve ever been able to watch a full season of.
I just saw the trailers for the movie where the girl and the serial killer switch bodies and it actually kinda looks good? I think it’s one of those poor promo type things :/ (I’m not even a fan of horror or gore or whatever but the trailer even got me to want to watch it lol)
It's just the framing of the thing. It's easy to get lost on the fun, wacky immersion, I agree! Halfway thru the trailer I was like 'o wait tht actress is doing such a good job I forgot this isn't real'. On a superficial level it seems to emphasize binary gender stereotypes and the "dangerous man in a woman's body" narrative is always one to watch out for. I'm cautious about the movie, to say the least.
