it's dark - you tend to do your best work in the dark. it's easier to hide and blend in, with hood covering your features as you walk within the shadows. you eavesdrop 'pon conversations, honing in for anything useful (it's rare there's anything to be found out here but you never know, people loves to talk after all). you're on your way back home finally, hours spent in a crouched in a bush as you took photos and jotted down anything vaguely usable. you're certain muffins misses you (and, more than that, wants the can of wet food you managed to snag from a distracted convenient store clerk).
you don't mean to run face first into the other, caught off-guard as you flew backwards onto the ground, face exposed for a few moments too long. you quickly tug the hoodie back down and panic about what to do.. people always want verbal apologies but you can't give them that, unable to speak at all. there's sign language but even then, it's not something people typically know. writing a note? you don't want to show your horrid handwriting to them.. you stumble upwards, with bruised knees and cut palms, only to place hand over heart and bow - this will get the message across, right?
