Question on Cinnamon cookie (please no discourse)

Alright so I've seen a lot of people referring to cinnamon cookie as nb, however their character story refers to them as he? "...everytime this cookie swings his cape." I do know some nb people use binary pronouns but from what I've seen the cookies genders are determined by what they're referred to as in-game. Was there an announcement I'm unaware of?

I'm 100% cool with them being nonbinary just looking for some clarification ^_^'
