Today (5/18/21), I decided to learn about circulism. It is a technique used to shade by making several circles with a pencil. Circulism creates an interesting texture which is usually used for drawing skin to capture imperfections. For my example of using this technique, I decided to draw a teddy bear. I used a reference image and shaded it with the circular motions. It was very fun to experiment with this technique and I love the texture that it gave my drawing rather than the look you get when shading normally. I used different pencils throughout my sketch to see how each helps to build up layers and fill in the gaps between circles. I am very excited to use this technique in my future pieces for things like human skin and see how much of a difference it makes in my art!
