In a time of such confusion and conflicting messages, how does what see and make a way forward? On what can one depend to have the foresight of what is to come and how to avert, circumvent or overcome successfully? The tools to help us see ahead lies in ritual, because it is that which affords us the tools to travel across space and time unhindered... Writing Prompt #709: Seven Stupid Words
Here are seven dumb words. Use them in your story, I guess:
circumvent, linear, artifact, bamboozle, accoutrement, skid, besot
’Round, ’Round, I Get Around
As romantic breakup strategies go, this one seems especially intriguing: “Then I got hired for a temporary job that lasted four months and allowed me to sail around the world ― literally circumventing the globe.”
That comes from an online roundup of stories about women leaving their fiencés. The Artisanal Grammarian has two things to say about this particular anecdote.
First, where can he sign up for a four-month job that involves sailing around the world?
Second, the lady in question may have circumvented her boyfriend’s relationship plans, but unless she wished to escape the entire planet rather than just the guy, she circumnavigated the globe.
We’re essentially dealing with three Latin words here. “Circum” means “around.” “Venire” means “to come.” And “navigare” means “to sail.”
“Circumvent” originally meant “to surround by hostile means.” It still connotes foiling or triumphing over someone or something else. If you circumvent something, you get around an obstacle.
“Circumnavigate” on the other hand, means simply “to sail or go around.” The difference between circumventing and circumnavigating is the difference between evading and just ambling.
Or, in matters of the heart, the difference between getting out and getting around. — Map of the 1519–1522 Magellan circumnavigation of the globe by MesserWoland and Pietry Dlouhý, via Wikimedia Commons 5/26/17
Tues/Wed/Sat/Fortnight
Hello dear anon, thank you for this!! 😄😄 Here ya go!!
tuesday: name a fic you have posted which you think is overrated?
Awww, that’s hard LOL I think probably Let It Be Me though. It’s not that I didn’t like it, it was a prompt fic that I was happy to do, and I got to incorporate a song which was something new and fun. It’s just that it was kind of Red & Dembe centric and I didn’t expect it to do as well as it did 😊
wednesday: name a fic which you have posted which you think is underrated?
Oooh, another tough one. I think I’d have to say Domestica. That came from a very specific picture in my head and I tried to re-create the vibe as best as I could. I know there’s really no plot or anything but I didn’t really expect there to be. It’s just kind of romantic and silly but also kind of intense cause Red is feeling things™ and idk it wasn’t super popular, which is totally fine!! I still love it and it’s close to my heart 😊
saturday: what gets you excited whilst writing?
Oooooh, usually when I have a really specific inspiration, like a scene from an ep or a promo or something!! That’s always when I write the fastest!! But also music, definitely. If the right song comes on while I’m writing, it feels awesome, and I live for it LOL
fortnight: what wip do you plan on posting next, if at all?
Yay!! 😀 I’m actually getting ready to post Injected, which is Part 4 of the series Prison Possibilities. After that, it’s Part 5 (I think titled Circumvent) and that will be the end of the series!! After that I’ve got some season 6 ep scene tag thingies I wanna write and a few random prompts I’ve been holding onto. And then I’ve got some bigger plans 😉 I’m hoping it’ll be a productive summer for me!!
Well, thank you so much, anon, I hope you enjoyed these!! 😄 Cause I certainly did!! 😊 Much love to you, friend!! ❤️

Neglectful of duty or obligation; remiss. synonym: negligent
conniption:
A fit of violent emotion, such as anger or panic.
An attack of hysteria; a fit of rage or vexation.

To surround (an enemy, for example); enclose or entrap.
To go around; bypass.
To avoid or get around by artful maneuvering.
noisette:

I circumvent every damn body. I do my share of "artful maneuvering" all the time.
Noisette sounds like a loud girl's name, or a girl Chipmunk (The Chipettes), not a piece of meat. I heard the word in The Changeling, the series, not the book.
