LUKE/ACTS S.O.A.P. ~ ACTS 28
Unhindered and with complete confidence, he continued to preach God’s kingdom and to teach about the Lord Jesus Christ.
~ Acts of the Apostles 28:31
Two things caught my attention on the way to this verse:
The number "three" shows up several times here:
Being welcomed into Publius's home for three days... (verse 7)
Three months on Malta (verse 11)
Staying in Syracuse for three days (verse 12)
"the Three Taverns" (verse 15 - though that's probably a stretch... 🙄)
Three days after entering Rome (verse 17)
Why does Luke note both that it was an Alexandrian ship and the "twin gods Castor and Pollux as its figurehead"?
Could it be he was just that "OCD"?
Or could he have been saying the vessel that carries the Good News might come in unexpected ways?
Castor and Pollux were considered immortal and were the patron "saints" of sailors - and like most Greek and Roman mythology, there's way too many complicating things in their story... (thanks, Google... 😋)
...though that, too, is true for Paul's story so far...
...and can be so true for my own story as well...
Meanwhile, back to verse 31:
...despite being in prison and in chains awaiting trial...
...with COMPLETE confidence...
...despite being in prison and chains awaiting trial...
to preach God's kingdom...
to teach about the Lord Jesus Christ...
Remember I am nowhere near as hindered as Paul was...
Act with complete confidence...
Continue (start?) to preach God's kingdom...

Well, it looks like I let the end of Acts "sneak up" on me...
Any suggestions on where we should "go" tomorrow? I'm proposing we stay with Paul's story and go on into Romans...
