Pago de Cirsus, 단일 포도밭에만 부여되는 스페인 최고등급 Vino de Pago 획득

Vino de Pago (VP, Denominación de Pago 또는 DO Pago라고 명칭하기도 함)는 DOC 구역 안의 단일 포도밭에만 부여되는 스페인 와인 등급의 하나로, 와인 산지 전체에 부여되는 Denominación de Origen (DO) 또는 Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) 와는 차별화된다. 단일 포도밭에서 생산되는 포도만으로 와인을 생산해야 하고, 특별한 국지기후(Microclimate)와 뛰어난 와인을 생산한 실적, 품종, 떼루아 등을 모두 고려하여 주어지는 등급이다. *Pago는 프랑스의 Cru 와 같은 개념이다. Vino de Pago 등급은 스페인 국회의 결정으로 2003년에 처음 도입되었으며, 스페인 와인의 품질을 더욱 향상시키기 위한 방법의 일환이다.

Pago de Cirsus는 Navarra 지역 남부에 200헥타르에 걸쳐 자리잡고 있는 100% 싱글빈야드 와이너리이다. 이들의 목표는 최고의 포도만을 선별하여 프랑스 그랑크뤼 스타일의 와인을 양조하는 것이다. 이 지역은 대륙성 기후를 띠며 여름 최고 기온은 30~40℃에 이르는데 아침과 저녁의 일교차로 인해 돋보이는 산도와 구조감을 지닌 포도를 생산하는 최적의 조건을 갖추고 있다. 헥타르 당 생산량을 최소로 줄여 품질을 높이고 파워풀한 구조를 지닌 우아하고 훌륭한 스타일의 와인을 양조한다. 그랑크뤼 1등급인 Château Haut-Brion 출신의 양조자가 현재 이곳에서 양조 책임을 맡고 있다.
